I have a question regarding the prevention of .NET Framework updates through Group Policy. Despite setting the following Group Policy to "Disabled," the KB5011048 update is still being automatically applied, resulting in .NET Framework being upgraded from version 4.8 to 4.8.1 on both Windows 11 version 21H2 and Windows 10 version 22H2.

Group Policy Path: Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > Configure Automatic Updates

Note: Other Windows updates, such as monthly security updates for Windows 10 and Windows 11, are being successfully prevented as expected.

How can I configure Group Policy to prevent the automatic application of KB5011048, thereby keeping the .NET Framework version at 4.8? Any insights or solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

In this case, administrators can deploy registry key settings and prevent .NET Framework 4.8.1 from being provided to these devices. For more information on how to use this blocker registry key, see the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article: How to temporarily block the installation of .NET Framework 4.8.1 - Microsoft Support

Please note: Please follow the steps in the link carefully. If the registry is modified incorrectly, serious problems can occur. Before modifying the registry, back up the registry to restore it if a problem occurs.

I hope the information above is helpful.

    Best Regards,

    Yanhong Liu
