SSMS not installing

I have downloaded SSMS-Setup-ENU But when I double click to install nothing happens. Even when I try to run as an administrator nothing pops up

have you checked event viewer to find if some error is being thrown?

I see you found a related thread here on Q&A. Have you checked the solution provided there regarding WMI repository?

Also, what if you install install .NET Framework 4.7.2 and C++ redistributables before launching setup?

Hi @Ayanda Dladla ,

Suggest you to download the latest version SSMS 18.12.1 from MS link, then run the setup as administrator. Please also check if your antivirus software blocked this installation. In addition, did your OS version support this SSMS? Refer to SSMS System Requirements.

I was searching this thread looking for answers, but could not find one, anyway found the solution.

Go to Turn Windows Features on of off, uninstall / disable .NET Framework 4.8.

Restart the computer.

Go to Turn Windows Features on of off, install / enable .NET Framework 4.8.

Run the SSMS setup. (V19.3)

NOTE: This also resolved my problem when installing the database engine for SQL server 2022 express.

This was on Windows 10

Version: 22H2

OS Build: 19045.4046

The wmi service on the workstation needed a stop and reset

also the c:\windows\system32\wbem\repository folder had to be renamed so that wmi could reinitialise the information
