Document translator issue - Table formats not preserved in Word documents
Hello,
We have been using Azure Document Translator to translate Word documents from English to Japanese for a while without issues. However, we have noticed recently that the Translator is not able to maintain correctly tables formats inside Word documents. Can you please explain how to solve this issue?

As per my past experience, translator tries to preserve the format, however it is not guaranteed. Based on the provided FAQ, it's important to note that when text is translated from the source to target language, the overall length of translated text can differ from the source, which could result in reflow of text across pages. Additionally, the same fonts aren't always available in both source and target languages, but in general, the same font style is applied in the target language to retain formatting closer to the source. However, the FAQ does not provide a specific solution for this issue of table formats not being preserved correctly inside Word documents.
Also, please try using a different file format to better troubleshoot the problem at your end.

2024-05-14T10:05:54.1666667+00:00 Thanks for your comment @dupammi . We tried using other word documents without tables and it works fine, so it seems to be an issue related to tables only. It seems that even using different fonts and languages, the issue persists. The fact is that up until last month, using the same format, tables were rendered correctly so we were wondering if the current issue is due to a recent bug in the Document Translator code/model. I attached a screenshot of the original and translation (English to Spanish) for easier reference. You can see that the translator picks the last element in the table and use it as title. Then, the elements in the tables are completely out of order.

Please provide a detailed description of the issue, including any error messages or screenshots, when raising the support case.

I am facing this exact same issue.
No change in the process, that was working before, and now the table causes issues: not the same format, wrong translation, title or text not translated at the correct location; I will contact the support as well, if you have more information, it would be great that you add a comment here!

2024-05-15T08:10:31.8466667+00:00 Hello @Memo , thanks for your comment. I am glad I am not the only one who's experiencing this issue. I already contacted Azure Support as @dupammi suggested. They told me they were able to reproduce the issue and that they will report it to the product team and come back to me as soon as they have any update.
Please do contact them as well, the more customers complain about this issue the quicker it will be solved. I will keep you on the loop anyway. -
