Unable to add Bastion subnet

I am doing the MS Cybersecurity Solutions and MS Defender Course through Coursera. I have upgraded to P2 tier. I have enabled Just-In-Time function and tested it works.

The guided exercise on "Shield virtual machines using Bastion" requires the addition of subnet to the virtual network I previously had set up.

The instructions are to use subnet range of 172.16.2.0/24 When I did that I got an error message below:

The subnet address range '172.16.2.0/24' is not contained in this virtual network's address spaces.

The exemplar has the identical subnet address so I don't understand why I cannot get this part of the exercise to work.

Thank you for any constructive help.

    @LW Tan

    Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A Platform. Thank you for reaching out & I hope you are doing well.

    I understand that you are doing a lab for MS Defender with Just-In-Time access.

    I am glad you were able to resolve the issue on your own.

    Since you were using a third party guided course, I am not exactly aware of the steps provided in it.

    However, should you feel that some steps are missing in our Microsoft Azure Bastion documents, pleas do let me know and I shall work internally to get this updated.

    Kindly let us know if this helps or you need further assistance on this issue.

    Thanks,

    Kapil
