Does Azure Change Tracking and Inventory report on existing installed software

Hi

We have enabled Azure Change Tracking and Inventory on our Azure Virtual Machines and Arc-Enabled servers.

All servers are reporting to the same DCR. Changes to software and services are reporting successfully.

We are not seeing any records on installed software that has not changed prior to enabling Change Tracking and Inventory on the servers. Is this expected behaviour?

It's not clear from the documentation if existing installed software is supposed to update the ConfigurationData table in Azure Monitor or just changes to inventory.

We were hoping to use this feature to audit installed software across all of our estate

Any advice welcome

Regards

Scott.

    @Strategos, thank you for posting this issue on Microsoft Q&A.

    After configuring the DCRs, it may take a while for the inventory to be uploaded. Based on the DCR template, which is used to create the DCR for enabling change tracking at scale, the inventoryCollection frequency is 36000 seconds:

    "inventorySettings": { "inventoryCollectionFrequency": 36000 },

    This would mean every 10 hours.

    Therefore, please allow it sometime and check again if the software inventory is being collected or not.
