How to fix sync stuck in "setting up sync" on edge 124.0.2478.80 running on Ubuntu Linux

Login to azure to sync with browsers on other devices is no longer working on Ubuntu Linux, it is stuck on "setting up sync". I tried deleting my profile via the gear(manage profile seetings) on the sync panel and then signing back in, no dice. I deleted my client ID from the details that follow.

    You can go to Settings > Profiles > Sync > Re-sync data to this device and then select on "Re-sync".

    If sync problems persist after a resync, you can select "Still having sync problems? Try another option" to see more steps and then select "Reset sync". You can refer to this link: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/deployedge/edge-learnmore-reset-data-in-cloud#perform-a-reset-to-fix-a-synchronization-problem
