I've attempted to map home directories for my end-users using group policies. Unfortunately, I see no reliable way to use the old-school login script variable %usermame% to automate the process. Rather than run a script in conjunction with the group policy mappings I'd like to know if (and how) a Group policy can be created to accomplish what %username% used to easily with a login script?

Microsoft must have take this approach from the common core curriculum, taking something very straightforward and over-complicating it unnecessarily. The info the link provided is useful enough but the only one that applies, the 'exclusive path', really creates more complication in implementing a home directory. Maybe a mixed GPO scripting environment would be the simplest way to achieve something simple.
