Hi,

I was going through limitations recorded in below article and wonder how we can protect OST/PST files in Windows 10 personal devices/laptop.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/information-protection/windows-information-protection/limitations-with-wip

If we are using personal laptop to access O365/Exchange 2016 mailbox, how can we protect the OST file downloaded to device?

Appreciate ant thoughts around it.

    Hi @Mahesh Aralelemath ,

To protect OST files, there are a few standard recommendations:

    • Use Multi-Factor Authentication for your account. That way if there are any suspicious attempts to access the files the users will need to provide another method for authentication.
    • For Outlook data kept in the computer's disk, a good security measure would be to encrypt the disk.

If you just want to encrypt the files or folders, you can follow these steps:

    1. Right-click (or tap and hold) a file or folder and select Properties.
    2. Select the Advanced... button and select the Encrypt contents to secure data check box.
    3. Select OK to close the Advanced Attributes window, select Apply, and then select OK.

Use can Turn off the Cache Exchange Mode to prevent creating OST files in the local system.
