I have requirement to render office document ( .doc, .xls, .ppt, .msg) in our web application.

I would really like to use office online server for our enterprise solution but before that I would like to test a POC on that.

Actually, I want to use office online server as a demo project without license(or on free trial) to check weather it can display mail files or not.

This pre-analysis I have to do to check weather It will serve the purpose for our enterprise solution or not.

SO sum up my queries:-

1) Can office online server works with .msg(mail) files or not.

2) if yes, then can we have a free trial to check that thing out

So can you help me ?

OOS does not handle the .msg file type. Office Online Server does not offer a trial. As all of your users need to have a volume license for Office to use OOS, you can download it via the Volume Licensing Service Center. Alternatively, you can purchase an MSDN subscription. Various levels of MSDN sub provide access to Server software.

    Hi @Sanchit Jaiswal

As Trevorseward said, OOS does not handle the .msg file type & Office Online Server does not offer a trial.

Office Online Server can be downloaded from the Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC).

For customers whose licenses qualfiy for OOS, but cannot obtain it through the VLSC, the following actions are possible:

VL Open customers can contact their Support Center.

Customers who purchased O365 online from Microsoft can submit a request from their Office 365 admin center or contact support.

@Trevor Seward I need a functionality, in which I can render office documents on browser applications like Office live apps look.

My files will be stored on my local server and while rendering I want the office.live look and feel.

    How can I achieve that.

Does microsoft provides the engine or service which does this conversion.

But I dont want the documents to be stored or uploaded on onr drivr or sharepoint?

    is it possible ?

if yes what is the bare minimum setup and what is the cost?
