Remote app asks for outlook profile on RDS server

hello,

i have a remote application installed on a Microsoft 2019 RDS server that can send mail using outlook client 2016. Outlook is also installed on the server. i am facing a problem that whenever trying to send a mail while outlook is closed, i receive a prompt to choose the outlook profile although the profile is already set to ''always use this profile". Usually, when trying to send mail, outlook must be used automatically to send the mail without any prompt.

I tried to search for the solution, but i am not finding any.

what could be the cause?

    Does the problem appear if the user that try to send a mail got only one outlook profile ?

    To rule out if it's a Outlook problem or caused by your application I would do a simple test;

    Log into the server with a user that got the symptom. From there create a new text file on the desktop and Righ-click on it, and select send to -> Mail recipient.

    If Outlook ask you your profile, please update it and try again, it point to an Outlook problem in it's configuration.

    If it don't ask you for a profile then check your application how it call Outlook, sometime they can specify a profile to use, but you might have to ask the support of your application.

    May I know:

    1.How users access remote app, through RD web or RD client?
    2.Does this happen to all the RDP connections, or just specific user?
    3.What if you keep only one outlook account, and delete all other email account, will the window prompt again?
    4. Please check the following registry key:

    Hi @Ralph Saad ,

    try to distribute the regkey to the RD users via a GPO to ensure that this option is set right before the users open Outlook from RDweb.

    The Following regkey should be set:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Options\

    Value = PickLogonProfile

    Value type = REG_SZ

    1 = "Prompt for a profile to be used"

    0 = "Always use this profile"
