Windows Server 2016 DNS delegation is always round robin?

Hi All,

I'm configuring a DNS delegation that points to 2 DNS servers (primary and secondary) and it seems like that when I request to resolve that record, the DNS returns me the result by querying the 2 DNS servers in a round robin fashion.

Do you know if it would be possible to have a primary/secondary configuration?

Thank you in advance!

    Hi ,

    >>I'm configuring a DNS delegation that points to 2 DNS servers (primary and secondary)

Did you mean that you create two name servers for the delegation?

    >>Do you know if it would be possible to have a primary/secondary configuration?

Unfortunately, as far as I know, this is a by-design behavior and there is no possible to have a primary/secondary configuration.

    Best Regards,

    Candy

Correct, new delegation with 2 nameservers in it to point to. I'm deploying this in a GSLB infrastructure in a primary/secondary mode so we want to send all the traffic to the primary DC, which has devices in same datacenter as primary.

I guess I need to use an alternative DNS.

    Thank you!
