How to generate memory dump with UWF enabled

Dear

We're using W10 2016 LTSB with Unified Write Filter enabled. Our devices are joined to the domain.

When the write filter is enabled and the clients are connected to the corporate network it's possible that on the next boot they blue screen with code BAD SYSTEM CONFIG. We are able to reproduce the issue by pushing some software installation and shutting the client down while it's performing the installation. However, we are part of a big company with other teams that are able to push software as well so we're still not sure what is causing the BSODs.

Anyway, I'd like to troubleshoot it further but I need the system to perform a memory dump. With the write filter disabled this poses no problem, I can generate the memory.dmp file. But when UWF is on it disables paging files so no memory dump file is created. The issue with the blue screen only occurs when the write filter is enabled so I need to find a way to enable the paging files.

Does anyone out here have any experience troubleshooting BSODs/generating dump files with UWF enabled?

Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A.

You can test this method on one machine and then apply them to other machines, try configure page file on a drive which is UWF disabled and keep other drives UWF enabled to generate the memory dump.
Steps of onfiguring the page fie
    a) Right click on my computer and select Properties
    b) Click Advanced system settings and choose Advanced
    c) Choose Settings under Performances
    d) Choose Advanced and click Change under virtual memory
    e) Select the original disk and click no page file
    f) Select the disk with no UWF and click system managed size or set comstom size
