Not able to add MPN ID to App registration

When going to "Azure Active Directory" > "App registrations" > app > "Add MPN ID to verify publisher" and I add our MPN ID I get the following error message:

A verified publisher cannot be added to this application. Please contact your administrator for assistance.

No further information available. Please let me know how I can add the MPD ID to the App registration.

    Microsoft seem to have a massive delay before you can do this after creating an App Registration. No rhyme nor reason. Leave it a day (yes, a day!), go back and try again.
