No upgrade to Windows 10 2004 or 20H2

Hi, I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon 7gen laptop. For some reason (despite clicking on the "check update" button), the laptop is not getting 2004 nor 20H2 update I'm looking forward to. I have checked the known issues section - I was thinking that maybe my laptop is on hold because it has an NVMe drive and even though it's not connected via Thunderbolt, it was preventing the upgrade. But now I see that the NVMe Thunderbolt issue is resolved, and I'm still not getting the upgrade. The Conexant audio driver issues don't apply to me, my laptop is not using any of those (checked all the sound devices to be sure). So, why am I not getting the update?

    @Jan Srzednicki
    Hi,

If you're coming from a relatively old release, sometimes the issues are related to changes in the new feature update. However, more often than not, update failures occur due to custom configurations, outdated drivers, incompatible programs, and hardware-related problems.

The fastest way to get the upgrade is through Media creation tool or ISO file.
Please download Media Creation Tool from the link below and select Upgrade this PC at the first screen:
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

This will save your files and apps while bringing you up to the latest version by the most stable method. It will also bring all of your Updates current and solve most problems since it reinstalls Windows.

Hope above information can help you.

    Hi @JanSrzednicki-6786,

You can manually update with the help of the Windows 10 Update Assistant over here:

    Hi @Leon Laude ,

I am aware of that path. However, I was made to believe by some other comments that I should rather not try it in such a case, because there is a reason behind my computer not getting the update. I am, however, at loss on what that reason would be.

How do I know what might be the reason for me for not getting the update?

    cheers,
    Jan

    Hi,

I'm running 1909, so that should work. However, is it possible that there's a known issue with the specific hardware my laptop (or its peripherals) has that is not listed on the "known issues" page, here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-information/status-windows-10-2004

    cheers,
    Jan
