Windows 10 Pro clients open files from a shared folder on a Windows 2016 Std server. When a file is left open for a period of time, the file is closed, I think by the server of Windows 10 loses the connection. If the document is a PDF the PDF viewing application just shows a blank page not what was in the page and the app has to reopen the document, sometimes the App has to be restarted. IF it a database then you get a message that the connect has been lost. IS the issue with Windows 10 Pro or Windows server 2016? The issue never occurred in Windows 7 Pro.

    Hi ,

In order to get a more concreted idea of this issue, I would appreciate your help to collect the following information for further troubleshooting.

1.Did the issue only occur on special machine or all windows 10 machines? What's the OS version of your windows 10? 1909 or 2004?

2.How did the windows clients access the share? Via UNC path or mapped drive? By \IP address or \hostname?

3.When the issue happens, can you ping server 2016 from windows 10 client successfully? Please first check network connectively.

4.When the issue happens, please both check SMB client log on windows 10 client and SMB server log on server 2016 to see if there are something related for us to troubleshooting.

5.Please also mark sure you have patched OS with fully windows updates.
