Upgraded to 2006, should I change the Group Policy SCCM client installation?

Do we have to modify the client group policy package? Im worried that the policy will overwrite the newer clients. (Currently testing new clients on a test collection)

OH! Are any of you aware what logs I should be paying attention to on the clients to verify health?

    Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.
    Group policy software installation is only enforced a single time on applicable systems.
    And do you have a "/logon" parameter in your installation command? This "/logon" parameter specifies that the installation should stop if an existing Configuration Manager client is found on the computer.

    To verify client health, you may pay attention to ClientIDManagerStartup.log, ClientLocation.log, LocationServices.log, CcmMessaging.log etc.

    Once you are done testing, you should update the GPO package to latest source bits to facilitate new installs.

    There are bunch of logs on the client side that you can refer to for client health. Question is what aspect of client health do you want to validate? You may not need to validate the client health individually on devices after all and instead capture the data directly from the ConfigMgr site server.

    Hi @My9to5 ,

    Be careful when deploying the client using the group policy (ADMX ConfigMgr template), personally, if it's is a new installation, I prefer configure the discovery methods, boundaries and boundary groups then install the client from the console, with that, you can monitor the installation progress from ccm.log file located on the site server "ConfigMgr Install directory\Microsoft Configuration Manager\Logs".
