Direct Access Issues

Question

Hello,

i am receiving below error when trying to give direct access to any root/sub folders even though i am site admin but i can assign direct access to any files inside the folder. what could be the issue?

Go to site settings -> Site collection features under Site Collection Administration -> Deactivate Limited-access user permission lockdown mode feature.

Then you could go to library to give direct access with folder.
