WPF Application crashing on startup on Windows 7

I have a Windows 7 SP1 machine that is unable to run any WPF Application.

I did try to build with Dot Net 4.5 to 4.8 and none worked.

Even an Empty WPF application crashes on StartUp. It doesn't show the error, but in one of my attempts, I managed to see a System.IO.FileNotFoundException error.

I have already tried to uninstall / reinstall all DotNetFrameworks.

What could be causing this problem? I found other reports of the same error / problem on the internet but nobody seems to be able to solve it.

If you are running the app through visual studio I would delete the hidden .vs folder in solutions directory and try running the app again. You will need to close visual studio to do this. If this does not help look in the event logs and see if there are any errors for your app in there.

What is the type of your WPF application? WPF App(.NET Framework) or WPF Browser App(.NET Framework)? If you run the apps with visual studio, could you create a Windows-forms app to check if it is work or not? By a way, did you try run a wpf app.exe which runs no error on other device on this Windows 7 SP1 machine?

It's on a customer's machine. On all his Windows7 PCs it works, except for 1 .... I noticed that there are more than 200 updates pending on Windows Update on his machine, but it would be interesting to be able to find out exactly what is missing.

It's a WPF App(.NET Framework)!

Even an empty WPF App does not work... I compile on my machine, it works ... but when copying to his machine it doesn't work.
I managed to open an error report, but it doesn't help much.

hopefully installing the updates will fix the issue. The event log error bellow really does not give much to go on

Your question is not a native WPF question, it is more related to the running environment. The document Troubleshoot blocked .NET Framework installations and uninstallations may give you some help for .NET Framework installations.
