open this attachment via double click it opens the message in outlook
If you download this .eml file locally and reopen it in Outlook, could the .pdf file display normally?
which is perfectly visible when i open the .eml file in thunderbird, lotus notes, owa, etc...
Considering the issue only occurred on your Outlook, it may be more related to your client itself. Could your issue be reproduced if you re-send the .eml and re-open this message in your Outlook?
Based on my tests, I have tried to send a message with .eml attachment and open it in my Outlook 365 (Version 2012, Build 13530.20316 ), but the .pdf attachment could display normally on my Outlook, which seems to I couldn't reproduce your issue.
For your client, if the issue only occured on this message, in order to avoid the sync error between client and server, it' suggested to create a new Outlook profile to test if the issue has any difference.(Control Panel>Mail>Show Profiles>New>type your profile name and readd your account)
Also, the add-ins in Outlook client also may affect this issue, in order to avoid it, please try to restart your Outlook in safe mode to check(Windows + R>type"Outlook.exe /safe">enter)
