Dare I say it in this forum....we are moving a client's managed Azure SQL Server database (3.8TB) and multiple smaller Azure MySQL databases to AWS RDS SQL Server and Aurora MySQL respectively with minimal downtime permitted (max 2 hours).
DMS is not suitable as it does not support CDC for Azure SQL nor does it support the version of MySQL (5.6) on Azure.
I'm looking at options to migrate the databases real-time with a final cutover/switch from Azure to AWS with <2hour outage . A vendor solution CloudBasic for Azure SQL Server is not permitted to be used by our client unfortunately as this may have resolved our issue.
Aside of replicating the Azure SQL and MySQL databases to dedicated VM's either within Azure or on-premise appears to be our only option but I'm wondering if there are other solutions we could consider. For Azure SQL Server is there a Data Factory process or the like we could leverage or a method to copy/logship to AWS S3 and restore our target AWS databases from S3? Has anyone had a similar ask or could offer some guidance here I'd be extremely grateful!
btw...Network gateways will enable ingress/egress between the 2 cloud vendors - just not sure of the size of the pipe but there may be some latency we need to factor in as well.
