According to your description, we need to confirm something with you. Which version of Visual Studio is currently installed on your computer? Can you open your Visual Studio Installer normally? Is there a “Repair” button available in Visual Studio Installer?
If you can’t click on “Repair”, please try to perform the following actions to reinstall the Visual Studio Installer files and reset the installation metadata.
- See if you have this file on your machine: "%programfiles(x86)%\Microsoft Visual Studio\Installer\resources\app\layout\InstallCleanup.exe"
- If so, please launch it from an admin command prompt with a -full param:
InstallCleanup.exe -full - If not, please manually delete the "%programfiles(x86)%\Microsoft Visual Studio\Installer” folder.
- Relaunch the newly downloaded vs_xxxx.exe from the Visual Studio download page.
- Reboot your computer and run the exe as administrator.
- Once the installer comes up and you can see workload choices (.net desktop and the like), close it.
- Check if it works for you.
