Windows update - Please help with 0x800f0831
For a year now, all the cumulative updates on a machine, which I am supposed to manage, with Win10 in S mode fail because of that error, which is related to corrupt CBS store, caused by OneDrive update attempts. I found the proper manifest missing but it does not install it either.
Every cumulative fails at 20%.

Please run Windows Update troubleshooter from Settings app > Update & security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters. See if it works.
If that doesn't work, try this:
Open administrative Command Prompt and type following commands one-by-one followed by Enter key.
net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptSvc
net stop bits
net stop msiserver
Ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
Ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 Catroot2.old
net start wuauserv
net start cryptSvc
net start bits
net start msiserverClose Command Prompt and see if Windows Updates works then.
Reset Windows Update components, if you continue to face this issue:

Hi,
Try uninstalling the OneDrive application directly from the Windows 10 store, there you will have the option to reinstall it.
If that doesn't work, if you have the install media for your current build, you could try doing an in-place upgrade which would replace those files. It is started from the Windows desktop and you select the setup.exe file from the Install Media.

Open admin cmd and run:
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth /source:
In the /source: argument specify the full path from were you have saved the working manfiest. Alternatively you can use another computer in your network that has the working file as source.
