I'm trying to get a shortcut to open in Edge or Firefox

We use Lotus Notes 9 in our environment. A few people have using a full client but most have a browser plug-in.
The name is Lotus Notes Browser Plug-in and we've been using it in IE. Since that is no longer being supported, we need it to open with Edge or Firefox.

The properties of the shortcut are simply notes:workspace or notes:home
If I open Firefox and create the same shortcut, it still opens in IE.

The only things I can find is either install the thick client and tell it to add the browser feature (it uses its own built in browser but you can change it) or to enable the plugin in Firefox, which I haven't found how to do. All info I find says you can change links 'within' the thick client to use another browser.

I need the URL notes:home to open in Firefox and this is a roadblock for me.
Any suggestions would be of great use.

    Hi,

    Thank you for coming Microsoft Q&A.

    I noticed IBM Notes Browser Plug-in – Techniques for Efficient Usage says,

    Suppose that your default PC browser is Internet Edge but, you do not want to use it. You want to use Lotus Notes browser plug-in in the Firefox. So, for this you need to perform following Notes.ini settings:

    NOTES_PLUGIN_DEFAULT_BROWSER=Firefox
    NOTES_PLUGIN_DEFAULT_BROWSER=IEdge

    So you could try on your side with those configuration.

    As Notes Browser is a third party product and out of our support scope, we know it is out of support now for IBM. We could use the thread for discussion with other customers who familiar with this issue. Or you could create another thread on IBM forum to check if they have any resource for it.

    Yes I know IBM Notes has been taken over by HCL, who does not give out support, they are just a sales corporation.
    Using the insert line you added …..=IEdge does nothing because you have to enable the add-in in Edge and that I don't know how to do. All I can find are Microsoft pre-selected add-ins to choose from, not any you have on your pc.
    Besides, if you run a get-Startapps in PS, Edge appears as MSEdge and Firefox is
    30804680AF4A39CB. So the mess continues.

    the functionality you're looking for is not native to windows, it requires the custom software either notes client or notes browser plugin software.
    hcl does support notes.

    Notes URLs will only work with an installed client.
    The custom Notes URL (notes://) handler is described as running Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Notes as ...

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\HCL\Notes\notes.exe" -defini "%1"

    So, where %1 may look like = "notes://300.0.0.1/1234567890123456" (use your own IP and ReplicaID)

    ... mine looked kinda like...

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\HCL\Notes\notes.exe" -defini "C:\Program Files (x86)\HCL\Notes\notes.exe" -defini "notes://300.0.0.1/1234567890123456"
