Hello,

I would like to know the best practice to perform hourly backup of a file share. Today I see that I am able to schedule only once a day, but I would like to do that more often

    Hi,

There are only a few best practices which you'll find over here:
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/backup/backup-afs#best-practices

General backup best practices is to backup frequently and regularly, and consider the backup retention.

When you say file share, I assume you mean Azure File Share? There are the following limitations on backup scheduling:

    • You can back up Windows Server or Windows machines up to three times a day. You can set the scheduling policy to daily or weekly schedules.
    • You can back up DPM up to twice a day. You can set the scheduling policy to daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly
    • You back up Azure VMs once a day.

    Best regards,
    Leon

    Hi Leon,

Exactly, I mean Azure File Share.
Today I make use of the only scheduling that the portal makes available to me, which is once a day, but my application makes great movements within Storage, so it is necessary to perform backup more times a day.

I am aware of VM backups, but they do not include the existing data within File share, correct?

So how can I be performing these backups with Azure File Share more than once a day?
