We have a SQL Server 2017 Enterprise Core edition with no SA in virtualized environment. This VM has been assigned 8 vCPU. This VM is hosted on three physical servers in failover cluster. I would like to know from licensing expert if we are covered with license in our setup in case ofVM failover to another physical server in the same cluster.

    Hi Cathyji

I contacted Microsoft VLSC support and he advised me to contact reseller. They can only read the licensing document which only mentioned about SQL fail-over cluster scenario. There is no example of using SQL server on VM in fail-over cluster environment the licensing documents.
