Difference between commands "get-appxpackage" AND "get-appxprovisionedpackage"

I wanted to understand what the difference was between the commands "get-appxpackage" AND "get-appxprovisionedpackage". Is the former computer-focused and the latter wim-image-focused? TIA K

I was doing a lab earlier and they were using a "test" computer to create an image. I saw both of these commands and I am guessing that you have seen them both in one similar to that.

The "Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers | Remove-AppxPackage" was because there were existing users on that computer that may have already had different applications installed. The also used "Get-AppxProvisionedPackage | Remove-AppxProvisionedPackage" to remove the apps that were supposed to be installed for any new users of that computer. Both were needed when making a "Golden Image" from what I understand so far.

Does any of this seem right? I am learning, hopefully..

Get-AppxProvisionedPackage
Gets information about app packages (.appx) in an image that will be installed for each new user.

Get-AppxPackage
Gets a list of the app packages that are installed in a user profile.

Thanks, figured that was the case with the Get-AppxProvisionedPackage command as I did use this with WIM image.

So the other command (Get-AppxPackage) is relevant to the OS it's being issued from and not a WIM related cmdlet?

Yes, Get-AppxPackage gets the installed app packages.

Hello,
Get-AppxPackage shows the packages that are installed for a specific user. (Only the appx packages that are installed in the user Profile) These are just the apps installed in the specified user account.
Get_AppxProvisionedPackage shows appx packages that are installed for all users(new users would get these apps installed by default.
I think they apply for use with a WIM file.
