It was an SCAM and FAKE.
It wasn't from the Windows Defender team.
In case you install any program , then uninstall it.
Try download and run a full system scan with:

Report this as a case of fraud to your bank and report the company and the phone number to your local authorities in your country.
Should Defender automatically deal with any virus it detects?

Defender said my computer had been infected by a Trojan and locked up. It gave a number to ring which I assumed was a helpline but they sold me some expensive software first. Should this have happened?
