Does continuous crawl requires incremental crawl in SharePoint 2019

Hi,

In SP 2019 on-prem,

1) Does continuous crawl also require incremental crawl?

2) Can we run a continuous crawl without running incremental?

Continuous crawls are overlapping incremental crawls. Just set the content source to use continuous crawls and you should be all.set. I would suggest not scheduling full crawls. FCs can be run manually for troubleshooting purposes.

Full: Crawl all content.
Incremental: As the name says, it crawls content that has been modified since the last crawl. The "Continuous Crawl" is a type of crawl that aims to maintain the index as current as possible.

In addition, per my test when using incremental newly added files or .aspx pages can be found in search results. When it comes to managed property, as you may know generally speaking it is divided into site column and list column.

List column requires you to create managed property yourself. The result of my test is that the changes to the managed property of these two columns can be obtained by incremental crawling if your settings are correct, however there may be some delay.

In fact, if it is just some changes in a list/library, you only need to try reindex to get the change.
