Receive connector question for external domains

Hello-
I am hosting a Linux web/app server on my LAN that's accessible from the Internet. The site has a password reset function. I am able to send reset password links for internal users that exist on my internal AD domain / Exchange server. However, I am not able to email a password reset link to external users, i.e. gmail.com. I suspect I need a new receive connector for this LInux server. Can someone point me in the right direction?
