I've installed teams on Fedora 30 and I use the i3 desktop environment. , appears to be the same in another admins Ubuntu desktop, i3 also, both x11 not wayland
Unable to share my screen with windows or other Linux(Ubuntu) desktops.
I have the option to share, and have a black bar at the top when i do, it only state Connecting, and also has a stop presenting button. after a minute or so it stops the share itself.
This maybe a network problem, but i'm unsure the destination and ports needed.

I've tried Fedora 30 Gnome DE, and it had the same issue. not able to screen share. same connecting time out.
The unofficial ms client was able to screen share, it was a bit clunky, so not something i want to use.

Does screensharing in the unofficial teams-for-linux client work for you? Just wondering because it seems to me that the screen-sharing works similarly in both clients. The unofficial client uses the Teams screen sharing Chrome extension as a bit of a hack, and the official client seems to behave very similarly. So I wonder if the official client is also based in some way off the Chrome extension, and using WebRTC in the same way.
Does WebRTC work for you in general? (Google Hangouts, GotoMeeting, etc.)
I'm on Arch Linux using i3wm in x11 and screen sharing seems to work fine for me.
The chrome extension doesn't work by itself, but i was able to share from fedora to windows via the unofficial client.
zoom google hangouts gotomeeting all work, I've just never been able to use MS teams, or webex to share.
Just not sure why the official client doesn't work.

I'll see if my work has a support contract, I did find one interesting thing, screen sharing works inside a call. (i.e initiate a call then a screen share) but does not work selecting the "start sharing your screen" share button directly.
I'm sorry @chris , but "start sharing your screen" feature is known not to work. There was just issue with button to be still visible on Preview version. We hid the button for now.
Maybe this will be fixed now Ubuntu is moving to Wayland. https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2021/01/ubuntu-21-04-will-use-wayland-by-default

Screen sharing needs two prerequisites to satisfy: accessible through firewalls, accepting SSH connections. The following link shows the prerequisites of connect to a remote machine over SSH:

While this will work for linux to linux, doesn't really help with ms team to ms team. I work in a corporate environment, and we use teams.

Now sharing my screen seems to work, next is taking part in screens from others. Is that ever going to be a feature, or not likely?
