NPS accounting log gets prematurly deleted

We upgraded our NPS installation from Windows 2012 R2 to Windows 2019. Therefore we took a backup on the old server and imported the configuration on the new one (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/networking/technologies/nps/nps-manage-export).

On all servers we have now the situation that NPS-Accounting-logfiles will be deleted, if they are older than 8 days. But the checkbox "when disk is full delete older log files" is not set. So I have no clue, why logs were deleted.

keelste Did you ever find a fix for this? I am also running NPS on Windows Server 2019 and have the exact same issue. All the logs older than 8 days are automatically deleted even if the checkbox "when disk is full delete older log files" is not set.

    Any help appreciated.

    Hi @Keel Stefan PHSG ,

I have searched for a period of time and did not find any related resource talking about this symptom. If there is no specific event/error about the problem, it is hard for us to do troubleshooting from forum support level. In such case, I would suggest you contact Microsoft Customer Support and Services where more in-depth investigation can be done so that you would get a more satisfying explanation and solution to this issue.

    Best Regards,
    Candy

I am having the same issue. When we upgraded our RRAS/NPS servers to 2019 I couldn't figure out why the logs keep deleting. We used to have a script that would delete them if they were older than 3 months but they never make it to 3 months. Now I have a script to copy the logs weekly to another folder so they won't get deleted.

I did open a ticket with Microsoft on this and they couldn't figure it out. I ended up closing the ticket out of frustration.
