Are there plans to support office online on Windows Server 2019? If not, what is the microsoft support position and recommendation for customers?

I'm working on a project where the architecture relies on ‘Microsoft Office OnLine’ and ‘Microsoft Sharepoint 2019’. Since Windows Server 2016 is due to go end of mainstream support in Jan 2022 we are only planning on delivering Windows Server 2019. Is Office OnLine supported on Windows Server 2019? If not what is the Microsoft Support position and recommendation for us?

    Agree with learn2skills.

    If you want to use office online server in SharePoint server 2019, we suggest you keep using windows server 2016 operating system.

    Currently it seems that the product group has no plans to support Office Online Server with Windows Server 2019.

    Supported operating systems for Office Online Server
    You can run Office Online Server on the following operating systems:

    The 64-bit edition of Windows Server 2012 R2

    The 64-bit edition of Windows Server 2016 (Office Online Server November 2018 or later required).

    Office Online Server does not support Windows Server 2019.

    And it is not mentioned alternate recommendation.

    Good news! As of July 2021 patch, Windows Server 2019 is now supported - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/officeonlineserver/plan-office-online-server
