Using Project Web App to assign tasks to users

When using Project Professional 2013, tasks could be assigned to users by first opening the project, and then double clicking on the far left row containing the task. A popup window will open which contains rhe users currently assigned to the task. Then I click on an available cell and a dropdown list will appear to add a new user for this task.

i tried using the same method in Project Web App, and wasn't able to doubleclick on the task row to open the popup window.
How can the tasks be assigned using Project Web App?
