Hi Everyone,

I have the following architecture and my clients cant get updates :

1 Primary site in domainA.com

  • With SUP / DP / MP
    1 Site server in domainB.com
  • With SUP / DP / MP

There is no trust between domainA and domainB it's 2 different forest , 2 different physical site and subnets.

the client in the domainB trying to get his updates but I get the following error from WUAHANDLER.log on the machine :

OnSearchComplete - Failed to end search job. Error = 0x8024401c.
Scan failed with error = 0x8024401c.

Which I think it's normal because the computer is trying to reach the SUP on domainA from what I see on the same logs but it's not possible. I dont know why it does not contact the SUP in the same domain ?

I check the boundaries and all is OK.

From what I saw on other forums it says it's due to WSUS using too much resources, but my architecture is a LAB and it have only 5 clients connected. I checked the process and CPU is at 0 ram around 300.

Any ideas why it does not want to reach the SUP of it's domain ?

Also, on the console, under monitoring, Software Update Sync Status, the SUP of my primnary site is Green, but the SUP of the domainB does not show any informations.

On the site server of the domainb, SUP and WSUS no errors....

Thanks for your help !

    Hi, @Lulu
Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.
Clients locate and use SUP based on boundaries and boundary groups.
So double check if your boundaries and boundary groups are misconfigured?
And make sure the SUP in domain B is healthy, we may check WCM.log and WSUSCtrl.log.
