Kinect DK OCR

I am researching the usage of the Kinect DK. I have read that is has the ability to extract text from an image. Is it possible to do using this device? If so, can is extract barcode information as well? How would I go about doing this?

    The Azure Kinect SDK does not include direct support for reading text from images. Azure Computer and Custom Vision services

    support processing of images taken with the 4K color camera included with Azure Kinect DK.
