Update VMM agent on perimeter network.

Hello!

I have VMM in the 10.19.2445.0 version and some Hyper-V hosts added as a perimeted network (they are not member of AD). Each of that Hyper-V has installed VMM agent in 10.19.1030.0 version. I can't to that by VMM console, because hypervs don't are in part of my AD, so what is the best way to do that?

I think good idea is to unnistall older version and install new, but where can I find the latest version of agent? Windows Update don't find vmm agent update.

Summarizing:

  1. Where can I find the latest version of VMM agent to upgrade it on my HV connnected to VMM Server as a perimeter network?
  2. What is the best way to upgrade VMM agent on HV in the perimeter network?

I will be greatfull for any tips.

    Hello.

    Thank you for reply.

    In the location that you mentioned I found vmmAgent.exe file, so I copied "bin" folder where that file is and ran it on my HV but nothing happened...

    After some research in VMM Server location I found folder "agents" in C:\Program Files\Microsoft System Center\Virtual Machine Manager\agents\amd64. So, I copied the newes version on HV and tried install, but got error:

    A tried unnistall old agent (10.19.1013), reboot the server, but it doesn't help - I always get that error from that installation files.

    In association about install agent from VMM setup ISO, of course I can do that, but I got only VMM iso with old agent (10.19.1013). I tried install from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=58058 but it is the same version of agent. So, where can I found VMM Server iso with the newest release?

    @Marek , For your questions, here are my answers:
    Q1:Where can I find the latest version of VMM agent to upgrade it on my HV connnected to VMM Server as a perimeter network?
    A1:We can find the latest version of VMM agent on VMM server if the VMM server is with the latest version. Location:C:\Program Files\Microsoft System Center 2016\Virtual Machine Manager\bin\VmmAgent.exe. Or we can install the VMM agent locally with running the VMM setup as an administrator.

    Q2:What is the best way to upgrade VMM agent on HV in the perimeter network?
    A2: To upgrade VMM agent in perimeter network, based as I know, we can copy the VMMagent.exe from VMM server and install the latest version to do the upgrade.
