AD MA not importing OUs, saying they are obsolete

I can't seem to find documentation on what "obsolete" means in a full import from AD in MIM. The MA seems to mark all OUs as obsolete. In the audit file there are lots of these:
delta operation="obsolete" DN="OU=MIMGroups ..."
and the OU is not imported to the connector space. Is there something I should change in the AD MA configuration?
