Hello,
I just installed a VM-Lab for Windows 11 and Server 2022. When setting up the client, I chose the "DEV" channel, because of some MS-Video I've seen. But this really doesn't work for me and I'd like to switch to the (hopefully more functional) "Beta" channel. But when I try to do that going to Windows Update / Windows Insider Program / Choose your Insider-Settings (translated from German), the Release Preview and Beta channels are greyed out. What am I to do?

    Hi
    @Marcus Büttemeyer
    May I ask how do you setup win11 on your VM. Currently the only way is through upgrading win10 in dev channel that Microsoft offers. The other methods is more likely to result in uncertainty and incompatibility.

    If you used the supported method, as far as I know. Once you use Windows Update to update into dev version, Microsoft generally not support dev channel users switch to Beta Channel or Release Preview Channel.
    This is the official link including switch channel information for your reference
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-insider/flighting#switching-between-channels

    If want to switch from dev channel to beta channel, you can roll back to win10 with windows.old( deleted in 2 weeks), and switch to beta channel in Insider Preview.
    Since you are using the VM, a clean install of win10 is a better option. Thanks you waiting for beta version to come in either July or August.

    You can also use WinPE to install win11 beta channel. iso, although we don't suggest. Microsoft has not released any images of win11.

    Hope this can help you

    It seems that I misunderstood: the "Beta channel" selection in Settings / Insider Preview already references Windows 11. But if that's not available yet, I'll stick with Dev and do a new, clean install once it's available.

    Thanks for your help!
