Hub-Stack topology and security for SAPGUI (non-http) traffic

Hello Azure SAP Experts,

What is the best practice recommendation to ensure non-http-based SAPGUI traffic can connect from public internet (unfortunately without VPN for time-being) via hub to SAP systems deployed in Azure spoke networks?

Can Azure AD Application Proxy be used for this scenario? While the documentations mention that the App Proxy works with rich-clients, it appears it works only via http/s.
