Remote deployments on Azure Stack HCI Cluster via Arc / Lighthouse

Question

Hello Experts,

I would like to understand Arc / Lighthouse capabilities with more clarity.

I have a use case where I need to deploy and configure RDS farm on a Azure Stack HCI Cluster, In a normal scenario I can login to WAC and follow "https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure-stack/hci/deploy/virtual-desktop-infrastructure" but I would like to automate and streamline operations as I want to do this deployment for multiple sites

Assume that these servers are "Arc Enabled" - Is there any way by which I can leverage Arc/Lighthouse capabilities to perform remote deployments via Azure?

Hello Yash,

Arc/Lighthouse definitely is the way to go but is not easy topic to explain.

You can get a better understanding through this document, but it highly depends on exactly how you want to deploy and the architecture behind.

I am a little confused about the capabilities of Arc/Lighthouse.

I see the defined use cases as (https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/services/azure-arc/#use-cases)

• Control sprawling IT assets
• Ensure consistent deployments and configuration [Only for AKS not for VMs]
• Meet regulatory and data sovereignty requirements

What I really wanted to validate is - Can Arc/Lighthouse enable us to remotely deploy a VM + Install a software at scale from Azure Portal.
