Issues with SharePoint - can't see site I'm a member of or have followed

A colleague created a new site in our sharepoint and added 9 of us to be members on the site. I was not able to see it in my SharePoint - although I got an email saying I was added. So I followed different links in the email and finally ended up finding the site. I then clicked "follow" hoping this would allow me to see the site through my sharepoint. But no, I still cannot see it. The only way I can access it is if I follow different links from the initial email, to outlook online, go to the group thread, and click on sharepoint under the "apps" section.

Does it just take a few days to populate into my sharepoint so I can see the sites I'm a member of/follow??

    Hi @Elizabeth Higman ,

Do you mean that you can't find the site you are following from the place shown in the screenshoot below under https://<tenantname>.sharepoint.com/_layouts/15/sharepoint.aspx?

If so, you can have a try to clear cache and cookies of your browser or change a browser to see if it fixes. After that, if the site still doesn't appear under "Following", you may wait for up to 24 hours as some timer jobs in the backend have to be executed.
