Managed Instance - Virtual Network Not Found

Hello guru's,

I recently tried to change the MI compute & storage and received an error stating that my virtual network's resource group is not found. I've done some reading... and I'm hoping I am wrong. Can I change the currently assigned Virtual Network / Subnet on my SQL managed instance?

Error:
Failed to scal the managed instance: "Dev"
ErrorCode: VnetResourceNotFound
ErrorMessage: Resource not found: "The resouce 'Microsoft.Network/virtualNetworks/DevWus28' under resource group 'DevNetwork' was not found....

I can search and find a resource group called "DevNetwork", however, it is empty.
I can search and find a virtual network "DevWus28" and the expected subnet "SQLMI", however, it exists under a different resource group.
Both of the above are in the same subscription.

Details as per Azure Console :

Managed Instance Info:
Name: Dev
Resource Group: DevBI
Virtual Network / Subnet : DevWus28 / SQLMI

Is it possible to change managed instance virtual subnet after the MI has been created?
If so, could you provide a URL with steps, or enough info for a noob dummy like me to configure this?

Hi @Drew , welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Unfortunately we cannot move the VNET or Subnet after the deployment of Azure SQL Managed Instance. Below articles mention the same:

Can I move my managed instance to another subnet?

However, the same article mentions that we can create a new instance with new VNET and Subnet and move the data from older instance.

Below is the article that talks above restoring the backup between different Azure SQL Managed Instance:

Restore a database in Azure SQL Managed Instance to a previous point in time

Please let us know if this helps or else we can discuss further on the same.
