Hi,

I can't create a data lake analytics resource in my azure portal. I have consumption plan only. but even then I can't create it. It says

"The provided location is not available for resource type 'Microsoft.DataLakeStore/accounts'. Please try on other locations."

Kindly help. I need it ASAP.

    Hello @Ramanathan Dakshina Murthy ,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A platform.

Starting July 5, 2021, customers who don’t have an existing account on Azure Data Lake Storage Gen1 will not be able to create Azure Data Lake Storage Gen1 accounts. That's the reason you are seeing this error message - "The provided location is not available for resource type 'Microsoft.DataLakeStore/accounts'. Please try on other locations".

For more details, refer to Azure Data Lake Storage Gen1: Account creation will be blocked for new customers starting July 5, 2021.

Microsoft recommends customers to use Azure Data Lake Gen2 to an alternate framework such as Azure HDInsight, Azure Synapse Analytics or Azure Databricks.

Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 offers a richer set of data management capabilities, lower cost, and integration with newer analytics offerings such as Azure Synapse Analytics along with Azure Databricks, Azure HDInsight.

For more details, refer to Retirement Announcement - Azure Data Lake Storage Gen1.

Hope this will help. Please let us know if any further queries.
