When will the new CU for MS SQL Server 2016 SP2 be released?
The latest version, CU17 was released in March. I can not find information about when the CU18 will be released. Microsoft technical support did not help, they sent me to create a ticket. Unfortunately, I can not create a ticket due to an inappropriate support plan.

Why are you looking for a new CU for SP2, when SP3 already has been released?
Because we have many systems that use this particular version of MS SQL Server. Upgrade to SP3 is not planned in the near future.

A SP = service pack isn't a different "version" of SQL Server, it's just an update as a CU = cummulative update.
I meant that we are using specifically MS SQL 2016 SP2. I know what SP is and what CU is.

Once a SP3 is released, which it is, there are no further CUs for the previous SP2.
Is there any confirmation of this from Microsoft?
According to official information, support for SP2 ends in October 2022 https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/products/sql-server-2016. Therefore, it is very strange that CU for SP2 will not be released for a whole year.

In any case, MS does not announce release dates for CUs or Service Packs.

This is not correct. In the past, there have been CUs released for earlier SPs. But that's academic now, since SQL 2016 SP3 is the last service pack we will ever see.
Since SQL 2016 has gone out of mainstream support (occurred on 2021-07-13), there will be no more CUs. The appearance of the service pack after that date was a bit unexpected. I guess it is really only CU 18 under a different name.
If you are using Change Tracking I recommend against installing SP3, as there appears to be a regression in this area.

SQL Server 2016 is in extended support phase, in this phase, the software still requires product’s supported service pack for full support (including security and DST updates)
But unfortunately it is uncertain when CU18 will be release, it depends on the official arrangement.
When support for a service pack ends, Microsoft no longer provides new security updates, DST updates, or other non-security updates for that service pack, and you know support for SP2 ends in Oct 2022. No one knows if there will be additional official arrangements in the meantime
