Random user logs in but doesn’t get network drives or folder redirected desktop

For the last month, we have been having random issues with our network and I am not sure if they point to one or more issues.

Our network, 60 users, AD, two domain servers, one running Windows 2012R2 Standard and the other running Windows 2019 Standard. About 30 of those users work at different workstations each day so their roaming profiles will follow them.

Issue: User logs into a workstation, no drives or folder replicated Desktop/Docs/etc don’t show up.

The fix: remove their local profile off of that PC, restart, have them log in and that process recreates everything – after that, user is good to go. This also happens on the terminal server and again, I remove their profile, have them log in again and all is good.

It’s very random but I have not been able to pinpoint where the issue is. AD Sync between domain servers is good, no errors.

Any advice?

    Hello @JB306yxe ,

I am sure that you have tried some Roaming Profile troubleshooting, and also you confirmed that replication and sync on the domain is correct.

In this case I would suggest to check on the side of the computer account. There might be something preventing the machines to report correctly and thus the roaming profile may fail. Could you try the next with couple of computers and check if the users maintain or loses again the roaming profile?

Log in as local Administrator and Disjoin the computer from the Domain, then reboot.
Log in as the local Administrator, then reboot.
Log in as the local Administrator and join the computer to the domain, then reboot.
Log in as Domain Administrator, then reboot.
Have the user log in normally. The profile should be synched correctly and maintain that way.
Try to create a new document or setting, have the user logoff and log into another machine. The change should have roamed to the next computer correctly.
