Getting error code-800F0922 while installing windows update of September month

Question

Hi,

Unable to install windows update of Sept month. Getting error code-800F0922.

I'm trying to install monthly CU of Sept on my Windows Server 2012 R2 for x64-based Systems but whenever I tried to restart my server after installing then updates gets failed to install and get a error.

Please help me so that I can install my updates successfully.

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.

The error code: 800F0922, this is might caused by a Secure Boot conflict.

To correct this: AS ADMINISTRATOR

1. Reboot the machine into the BIOS, (usually by pressing F2 repeatedly on restart.)
2. Once in the BIOS, locate the BOOT options and DISABLE SECURE BOOT.
3. Save and exit the configuration changes and boot into the OS normally.
4. Run the update. It should be successful.
5. Reboot the system back into the BIOS screen.
6. In the BOOT options, re-enable SAFE BOOT, save configurations changes and restart machine booting into the OS as normal.

If you have installed it via Windows Update, you can try to download the file directly from the server, in which case you can download it through the link below:

I also recommend following the instruction on the link below to check for possible corrupted files on the system and thus repair them:

If both solutions do not help to resolve, I recommend that you wait up to 7 days for engineering time to verify the error and thus attach a correction to the update.

I had the same problem with 5005613 on a Win8.1 device, but after I hid a different update that was failing(4535680) this update succeeded.

I had the same issue with 5 windows Servers 2012 R2 and I could solve it yesterday. The issue that I have identified as the System Reserved Partition (350MB) was without any free space.

So, I took a snapshot from the VM, and after I have added a letter in the System ReservedPartition and I deleted the file Recovery\WindowsRE\Winre.wim.

After this step, I was able to install all missing patches without Windows perform the patches rollback.

I have done in this order:

1 - Go to System Reserved Partition and add a letter to be possible to open it by explorer:

2 - Go to explorer, change the folder view to show the hidden files and the System files

3 - Go to the drive that you have assigned to the System Reserved Partition

4 - Go to folder [letter that you added]:\Recovery\WindowsRE\ and delete the file Winre.wim.

5 - Close all folders and remove the letter that you have assigned to the System Reserved

6 - Run the Windows update again and install the recentes patches (The October rollup for example)

The system that I have resolved was Windows 2012 R2 (around 5 servers.)
