Hi there,

I opened the document by OOS and found out the following result:

When I opened an existing document in SharePoint, it will open a new tab. However, if I create a new document, OOS will be opened in the same tab.

Is it possible to open an existing document OR create a new one in the same tab or windows??

Thanks

Which version of SharePoint you are using?

Per my test, in the modern library, SharePoint opens a document in a new tab by default. In the classic library, SharePoint opens a document in the same tab by default.

It you want to SharePoint opens a document in the same tab, you could vote this suggestion in the User Voice.

It is not possible to adjust this behavior as it is part of the product code.

Yes, this is not good considering SharePoint On-Premise is opening documents in a new tab and SharePoint Online is opening in the same tab. Migration to the "cloud" is not being nice for companies wanting this option.

Secondly, Both Modern and Classic are opening documents in the same tab.
