Why does my Intel Core i7-7700 that does have the TPM chipset not qualify for Windows 11?

MY fully defined processor type is as follows:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700 CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz.

According to the published Windows 11 minimum hardware requirements and tables, this CPU should be acceptable. However, Windows PC Health Check is flagging this CPU as not qualifying. Please advise.
Thanks

    Hi there,

You need a minimum 8th generation processor for Windows 11. You can check the below link for the supported Intel processor.

OEMs may use the following CPUs for new Windows 11 devices. New Windows 11 devices must use modern device drivers which have passed the Windows Hardware Compatibility Program for Windows 11 or the latest available modern device drivers based on Declarative, Componentized, Hardware Support Apps (DCH) design principles.

Nice job, Microsoft! Force people to upgrade perfectly good Intel hardware, in the midst of an unprecedented global chip shortage.

No official response provided by Microsoft provides any coherent explanation why Windows 11 cannot run on 7th-Gen Intel-based PCs, including higher-end PCs that are only a couple of years old. There are plenty of people who have done workarounds and successfully installed Windows 11 on 7th-Generation Intel PCs. This is an entirely artificial decision, and a terrible one at that.

Windows 10 can be use for at least 2 more years with full support.

There is not immediate requirement to have Windows 11.

In case you want to install Windows 11 it can be installed either in a supported or unsupported mode.

For those that have computer where the windows update agent fails Windows 11 can be installed by:

    a) modifying the registry and other files so that the update agent does not recognize the failures to have supported CPU, TPM, Drive, BIOS, Secure Boot, etc.

    b) backing up important files to another disk drive or the cloud followed by clean install and restoration of the important files

Those that install Windows 11 in the unsupported mode may not benefit from increased performance and security.

And Windows or Microsoft Defender may be problematic as the installation was unsupported.

The are multiple websites where end users have installed Windows 11 on very old hardware.
This includes desktops, laptops, and tablets.
And multiple websites reported that both automatic Windows and Microsoft Defender updates were successful.

Windows 11 can run on computers:

    a) with very old hardware
    b) without TPM
    c) without Secure Boot
    d) with BIOS Legacy
    e) with drive partition MBR
    etc.

    These can be accomplished by:
    a) modifying the registry and files so that the upgrade assistant does not recognize any problems with screened parameters
    b) performing a clean install

All of the above are unsupported installations of Windows 11.

TPM can be in firmware instead of separate chip.
Some computer manufacturers may have TPM upgrades:

Microsoft Windows Insiders computers were evaluated for crashes.
The CPU selected by Microsoft had greater than a 99% crash free rate.
