DPM 2019 Azure Vault Registration Problem

Due to massive performance problems, I have built a new Hyper-V VM and performed a fresh install of DPM 2019. This involved naming the new server the same as the old in order to restore the DPM database and keep all of my existing Protection Groups. When registering the new DPM server to the Azure vault, I receive an error that the passphrase is incorrect. I know that the passphrase is correct and can use it to restore a file from the vault. I have not unregistered the old DPM VM whose hostname I have now applied to the new server. Is it possible that this is causing the passphrase issue?

Hostname could be one of reason for failure. Because every server registered to the vault should have unique host name.

Try steps from troubleshooting guide here - https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/troubleshooting-common-configuration-issues-with-azure-backup/#:~:text=Azure%20Backup%20Registration%20Fails%20with%20%E2%80%9CInvalid%20vault%20credentials,settings%20might%20result%20in%20the%20below%20error%20message. If this doesn't work, try below steps.

In Backup server, went to the Registry-Rey “HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\AuthRoot” and provided "Everyone" has FULL CONTROL.

Rebooted the backup server and then try registration.

Thanks for your response. I logged into the Azure portal with the intent to un-register the old DPM server, but the options provided were 'Connect' and "Delete" so I hesitated. Will deleting the previously registered DPM server from 'Backup Infrastructure" affect the backed-up data? My colleague opened a ticket on the Azure portal and the support engineer who called said that deleting the server from the 'Backup Infrastructure" would also delete the backed-up data.

To be clear, we just migrated from one DPM server to a new one. The migration process involved:

-Backing up the original DPM database
-Shutting down the old DPM server
-Naming the new DPM server the same as the old
-Installing SQL Server on the new server
-Restoring the DPM database to the new server
-Installing the DPM server software
-Performing a Consistency Check on all the restored Protection Groups
-Attempt to register newly installed server to Azure vault but receive "Passphrase Incorrect". We have a screen shot of the passphrase as well as the text stored in a file. We used the passphrase to restore data about 3 weeks ago, so we know that it is correct.

@Ben Dalton - Yes, if you delete the server the backups will get deleted. I would suggest you to wait for technical support team recommendation for your use case.

Thanks. We have been discussing with them but the passphrase continues to be rejected when we try to register to the vault. My colleague is certain the passphrase is correct. She has a screen shot as well as the text saved in a file and used it just a few weeks ago to restore a file.
