Hello,
Having read plenty of documents on Windows Cluster/CSV I still don't understand one of the most basic CSV concept - namely the File System Redirected mode. Would anyone please help me to understand the following:
Theory: Article 1, Article 2
Here are the two illustrations of the File System Redirected mode taken from the articles above:
As you see the Metadata flow from Article 1 is the same as the data flow in the File System Redirected mode.
1-1) While describing the Metadata flow the Article 1 says nothing about the File System Redirected mode so I conclude that Metadata flow is NOT constrained to the File System Redirected mode (as well as to any other mode).
1-2) On contrary, the Article 2 - while describing the File System Redirected mode - does not state that in this mode only Metadata can be redirected so I conclude that ANY data (including the storage data!) - not only the Metadata - can be redirected in the File System Redirected mode.
Conclusion 1 contradicts conclusion 2 so
Q1: How should I treat this contradiction?
2)
Q2: Does it mean that if some node would loose its storage connection and would thus enable the Block Redirected mode there will be no indication of it in FCM as
The Failover Cluster Manager will show a volume as in Redirected Access only when it is in File System Redirected Mode and the FileSystemRedirectedIOReason is UserRequest .
...and the article does not contain any information about something like Block Redirected Access in FCM" ?
Q3: Is there a way to prevent enabling the Block Redirected Mode on the node that looses storage connectivity?
Thank you in advance,
Michael
